Optimalisasi Lahan Rawa Siap Wujudkan Indonesia Jadi Lambung Pangan

JAKARTA - Untuk mencapai ketahanan pangan dan menjadikan Indonesia sebagai lumbung pangan dunia, Kementerian Pertanian telah mempersiapkan banyak program. Salah satunya adalah optimalisasi lahan rawa yang cukup luas di Indonesia.

Direktur Jenderal Sarana dan Prasarana Pertanian (Dirjen PSP) Kementerian Pertanian, Sarwo Edhy, mengatakan pemanfaatan lahan rawa melalui kegiatan optimalisasi lahan rawa dan rawa pasang surut makin diseriusi di tahun 2019 ini. 

Salah satu contoh keberhasilan Kementan dalam program ini adalah optimalisasi lahan rawa di Desa Jejangkit Muara, Kecamatan Jejangkit, Kabupaten Barito Kuala, Kalimantan Selatan. Tercatat 250 hektar hamparan padi siap panen meramaikan acara Hari Pangan Sedunia (HPS) ke-38 pada 18-21 Oktober lalu.
"Salah satu poin dalam nawacita Pak Presiden adalah melakukan perluasan lahan pertanian, bukan hanya cetak sawah saja. Perluasan lahan pertanian itu artinya menambah luas lahan tanaman, meningkatkan indeks pertanaman, menambah luas lahan baku juga," ujar Sarwo Edhy dalam keterangan resmi, Selasa (19/2/2019).

Tidak hanya 250 hektar saja, lanjut Sarwo Edhy, pihaknya juga berhasil menanam 500 hektar padi di atas lahan rawa di Jejangkit. Sejumlah tanaman pendukung hortikultura dan perikanan juga disiapkan di lokasi tersebut.

Saat ini, masih ada 3.250 hektar lahan rawa yang masih dalam tahap pengerjaan di Jejangkit. Ke-10 area tersebut ia jamin akan selesai dioptimalisasi dan ditanami padi jenis Inpari.

Jadi total lahan rawa di Jejangkit yang akan masuk dalam program optimalisasi tahun ini adalah 4.000 hektar. Dan saat ini masih dalam tahap pengerjaan," jelasnya.
Sarwo Edhy menerangkan, program optimaliasi ini adalah sebagai bentuk motivasi yang diberikan negara kepada petani. Ke depannya lahan rawa yang berhasil dioptimalisasi oleh Kementan akan diserahkan kepada masyarakat secara cuma-cuma alias gratis.

Program ini bukan kali pertama dijalankan oleh Kementan. Karena tahun 2014 lalu, Kementan telah berhasil membuka lahan rawa di wilayah Sumatra Selatan dengan menggandeng pihak swasta lewat program CSR sebab belum ada dana APBN kala itu.
"Kita memotivasi kehadiran negara di tengah masyarakat. Program tersebut kan tidak mesti kembali ke negara, contra post-nya ke negara adalah berubahnya mindset mereka, meningkatnya etos kerja masyarakat dan mereka mampu melakukan kegiatan usaha tani secara baik dan benar dalam cluster yang kita kembangkan," ungkapnya.

Untuk diketahui, Kementan mendeskripsikan potensi lahan rawa di Indonesia mencapai luas 33,4 juta ha yang terdiri dari lahan pasang surut seluas 20,1 juta ha dan rawa lebak seluas 13,3 juta ha. Ini adalah sebuah potensi besar yang belum bisa di maksimalkan. 

Dengan suksesnya mengoptimalkan 750 hektar lahan rawa di Desa Jejangkit Muara. Kunci dari keberhasilan proyek ini adalah disebut adalah sistem pengelolaan air yang dilaksanakan secara optimal.
